In the HVHZ, our hinged impact doors (French and entry doors) swing out. Sliding glass doors and garage doors don't swing. Outside the HVHZ, fiberglass doors can also swing in where their product approval allows.

The door we install has to be. Miami-Dade and Broward are in the High-Velocity Hurricane Zone, where every impact product needs a Miami-Dade Notice of Acceptance or a Florida Product Approval rated for that zone. We give you the approval with the permit, and you can look it up yourself.
Pick fiberglass if you want a solid, private door with a traditional look, panels, or a small glass top. Pick a French door if you want a full glass view and more daylight. Both are hinged impact doors, and both come as a single or a double for wider entries.
It can, when the door opens from the room straight to the outside. The Florida Building Code sets the escape-opening rules for each sleeping room, so we check every door against the room and the opening when we measure, before anything is ordered. A garage door doesn't count as one.
The six-panel door. It's the classic raised six-panel pattern you see in almost every American house, often on interior doors too. The other popular style is the flush door, which is flat and smooth. We usually install these impact fiberglass doors as side garage entry doors, front doors, and laundry room doors.

Standard impact doors come with a double bore lockset, which is a handle plus a deadbolt. A three-point multipoint lock is an optional upgrade that usually adds about 10–15% to the door's cost. Most aftermarket smart locks won't fit a three-point lock, so decide before we order the door.
One door is often a few hours, and several doors take a day or two. We pull the permit, and the building department sets the review schedule. The in-home estimate is free, and the quote is usually back within 24–48 hours after we measure.

I had Republic Impact Windows; Doors & Roofing do my windows. Matt's crew is the best, Maria and everyone I spoke with on the phone was knowledgeable & helpful. From start to finish, the team of Republic Windows, Doors, & Roofing truly exceeded ALL of our expectations! We had 4 companies bid to replace our condo's sliding doors and windows. Their pricing was on the lower end of competitive BUT not the lowest price. From the onset, the interaction we had with their sales manager, Ryan Didato, was terrific. He was on-time, patient, took his time to walk/talk us through everything, explained the process from start-to-finish, and was available to answer calls/questions I had following our initial interaction.
