Impact windows and doors in Collier County

Ian flooded Collier coastlines 4 to 12 feet deep in 2022, and more than 3,500 buildings were left with major damage. Ordinance 2023-64 maps design wind from 150 to 170 mph in single-mph steps, and across Naples, Marco Island, and Everglades City our impact windows average $800–$1,800.

Collier County homes

We know Collier County homes

Collier County runs from the Lee line south through Naples and Marco Island to the Ten Thousand Islands. Three cities sit inside it; the rest is unincorporated county land.

Collier's Ordinance 2023-64 adopted wind maps in 1 mph steps, effective Dec 31, 2023.

We serve Collier County homes from our Fort Lauderdale office.

Impact window and door cost across Collier County

Naples, Marco, and Everglades City jobs average $800–$1,800 per opening, with single-hungs close to $1,100.

Beach-view tint and the custom sizes of older homes raise the number. See the size and door tables below.

Ian, city by city

North Naples saw the deepest water, 8 to 12 ft by the NHC count. The city of Naples saw 6 to 9 ft; Marco and Everglades City saw 4 to 6.

Thirty-three Collier buildings were lost outright. Federal aid flowed through disaster DR-4673-FL.

Windows and doors for every Collier County home

A Park Shore tower, a Marco canal ranch, and a stilt house on the Barron River need three different unit specs.

Our crews fit French pairs, sliders, fiberglass entry doors, and garage doors in every Collier city. Our hinged impact doors (French and entry doors) swing out. Sliding glass doors and garage doors don't swing.

My Safe Florida Home and your wind-mitigation form

If you qualify for My Safe Florida Home, the state pays $2 for every $1 you pay, up to $10,000, after the program's free wind-mitigation visit (Fla. Stat. §215.5586). How the program works.

Impact windows and doors count as opening protection, Question 9 on the state's wind-mitigation form, OIR-B1-1802. A licensed inspector fills it out after the work, and your insurer sets the discount.

Questions

Collier County impact window questions

Is Collier County in the High-Velocity Hurricane Zone?

No. Only Miami-Dade and Broward are in that zone. Collier uses the 1-mph maps adopted in Ordinance 2023-64.

What wind speed applies to my Collier County home?

Between 150 and 170 mph for a Risk Category II home, in 1 mph lines. Designs use the highest adjacent line.

Is all of Collier a debris region?

Yes. Every line is 150 mph or more, so the whole county is a wind-borne debris region.

Which cities need turtle glass?

Two do: Naples under §52-61 and Marco under Ch. 54. Everglades City has no beach rule.

How hard did Ian hit Collier County?

The NHC counts 33 buildings destroyed and over 3,500 with major damage in the county.

Are hurricane windows a different product?

Same product, two names: laminated glass in an impact-tested frame. Ask for the approval number on each unit.

Who handles my Collier permit?

We do. Naples uses CityView, Marco Island its own portal, and Everglades City and unincorporated areas use the county's GMCD portal.

Why does Everglades City use the county?

The city contracts with Collier County for building services under an interlocal agreement.

Which missile test covers my glass?

ASTM E1996's large-missile level applies to glass up to 30 feet above grade. Units mounted higher, like condo floors up the tower, use its small-missile level.

Will Naples or Marco accept a Florida Product Approval?

Yes. A state approval works, and so does a Miami-Dade NOA, provided it lists your unit's size and pressure.

Do impact doors swing in or out in Collier?

Out, for hinged doors. Our hinged impact doors (French and entry doors) swing out. Sliding glass doors and garage doors don't swing.

What do impact doors run in Collier County?

A single French door runs $2,800–$4,000; a French pair runs $3,800–$7,000. Two-panel sliders cost $2,500–$3,500, plus $600–$800 per added panel.

How do I get the insurance credit?

Have a wind-mitigation inspector fill out form OIR-B1-1802 after install, then send it to your carrier.

Can My Safe Florida Home help pay?

On October 20, 2026 the program listed itself as open. The process starts with a no-cost home assessment; the cap is $10,000.

Can my condo board say no to impact glass?

No. Under §718.113(5) and §720.3035(6), boards choose the specs, but code-compliant protection can't be refused.

Is a notice of commencement required?

Yes, for direct contracts past $5,000 under §713.135. Our office records it at the Collier Clerk.

Wind and missile rules

Collier County is outside the HVHZ. Its adopted Risk Category II map runs from 150 to 170 mph in 1 mph lines, and at 150 mph or more the code makes the whole county a wind-borne debris region.

  • Up to 30 feet: the large-missile test of ASTM E1996.
  • Above 30 feet: the small-missile test of the same standard.
  • Each unit needs a Florida Product Approval, or a Miami-Dade NOA, covering its size and design pressure.
